Dance III Auditions

Attention Warriors!! Do you want to perform in the rallies next year with Dance 3? Come to auditions Wednesday 2:45 after school in the Dance studio! Senior Sendoff

Senior Sendoff has been canceled. Refund checks are being processed and will be given out before Finals Week.

 

Senior Walk

If you signed up for Senior Walk, please make sure you turn in your permission slips to Ms. Cooper! Senior Walk is Wednesday. You don’t want to miss it!

 

Graduation Speech Auditions

Seniors- if you would like to give a speech at graduation please stop by Room 602 to sign up to audition. You will be called in for an appointment time.

 

Senior Locker Cleanout

Seniors Locker Cleanout is this Friday! Seniors will be called from class to clean out their lockers. All locks must be turned in to the Treasurer by Thursday June 1. If your lock is not returned, you will be fined and you will not receive your diploma at graduation!

 

Cap and Gowns

Cap and Gowns will be distributed at lunch on Monday, May 22 out of the main office conference room window. This is the only day during this week that they will be available. You will receive up to 8 tickets to graduation at that time. All fines must be cleared and you must be on track to graduate. Please have everything in order before you get in line.

 

Senior Finals

Seniors Only- Your finals are next week. Tuesday Finals 5th and 6th, Wednesday, 1st and 2nd, Thursday 3rd and 4th. These are regular days- no special schedule.

 

Senior Yearbook Signing Party

On Thursday, June 1st we have a great event planned! Seniors will receive their yearbooks after school and Senior Aaron Grandbois Jenkins family is hosting a Senior Party for you! Hotdogs, chips, candy and more! Come and join your fellow Seniors for a great Going Away Party!

 

Staff Diplomas

Seniors- you will receive the list of staff  handing out diplomas in your Government classes on Tuesday. Please circle the staff member you would like to give you your diploma and turn it in to 602 or Ms. Stobing’s mailbox. Please make sure your first and last name are on the sheet. Submissions are due by Friday.

 

Graduation Flowers

College and Career

DVC is hosting an SEA Day Saturday, May 13 for seniors that are planning on attending DVC in the fall. Get enrollment priority and register for summer and fall classes. Workshops for parents, and campus tours for all. Please see Mrs. Santos for details and requirements to attend. Space is limited and you must RSVP by Tuesday, May 10.

 

Cap and Gowns

Seniors- If you have not ordered your cap and gown, you must now mail your form into Josten’s in order to receive one -purchased or borrowed. Prices have gone up! A basic package for Cap/Gown/Tassel is $49. The Deadline to order is May 9. There are over 90 Seniors who have not ordered a cap and gown.  If you need more information please see Mrs. Ridings in the Treasurer’s Office.   If you plan to borrow a cap/gown, you still need to turn in an order form to Jostens.  Write “Borrow” in the payment information.

Prom Tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 17 through Friday, April 28  for Juniors, Seniors and their guests. Tickets are $145 each and include mandatory transportation, full dinner, dancing and entertainment! You don’t want to miss this Prom on a Yacht! Tickets will sell out- we have a limited number of spots! Contracts are now available by the Treasurer’s Office. There are three contracts, please make sure you pick up the correct ones for you and your guest.

Eligibility Requirements for Prom: ·Student needs to be making satisfactory progress for graduation

·Ten or more tardies or unexcused period absences--if you have ten or more tardies or unexcused period absences, you have the opportunity to attend Saturday school. ·No suspension 15 days prior to prom

Interact is collecting travel/hotel-size shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, bar soap, body wash to give to a homeless shelter to help Concord area homeless individuals and families. Please bring whatever you can to room 307 by Friday, April 21.

Book Drive

Have any extra books at home? Bring them in and Donate them to the Education Academy Book drive. Boxes will be placed in all English classrooms and Ed Rooms. The Book Drive will go for the entire month of February in preparation for National Reading Month in March. Books will be donated to The Monument Crisis Center and Elementary schools.

Your full name will appear on the diploma just as it does in Aeries. Golden Warrior

We would like to take this moment to announce your next Golden Warrior nominee, Jacob Samuels! Jacob is ranked #1 in the senior class currently, and can be seen playing baseball or announcing at soccer, basketball or football games. He hopes to major in broadcasting and communications and work for a major league baseball team! Read more about Jacob in the office at the Golden Warrior display!

 

Book Drive

Have any extra books at home? Bring them in and Donate them to the Education Academy Book drive. Boxes will be placed in all English classrooms and Ed Rooms. The Book Drive will go for the entire month of February in preparation for National Reading Month in March. Books will be donated to The Monument Crisis Center and Elementary schools.

 

Health Academy

Freshmen: Become a paramedic, physical therapist, X-ray tech, public health worker, athletic trainer and much more! The Health Academy is accepting applications now! For more info, come to room 408.

 

Wellness Center

Students! Are you interested in important, up-to-date information regarding immigration? Do you have questions about possible changes to laws and federal/state programs that may affect you or your loved ones? We will be holding a small workshop on Friday, February 17th where you can come to a safe space and ask questions with experts on immigration status and learn about immigrant rights. This event will be held both during 4th period and lunch in the library. If you’d like to attend the 4th period program, please see Ms. Jenny in the main office to get a pass. It will be limited to 40 students on a first-come, first-serve basis and you MUST have a pass from your 4th period teacher. The lunchtime event will be open to all students.

 

Grad Night 2017:

Mrs. Hastings will be in the quad most Fridays at lunch to accept reservations and payments for Grad Night! Be sure to put a deposit down soon!

 

CONGRATULATION to boys and girls soccer for qualifying to compete in this year's NCS Championships. Come support our teams as they play this Wednesday. Girls are at Sir Francis Drake at 3pm. Boys will play at home against De Anza High School. 7pm Kickoff.  Please note NCS charges for these games. $10 for Adults and $5 for Students.

Looking for a part time job in a Dr.'s office? The ideal applicant has a strong desire to be in the field of medicine, is available Monday-Friday after school and can commit for the year. See Mrs. Santos for information and contact information.

 

Attention Juniors: For student that are interested in attending Los Medanos College, studying fields of nursing, automotive, fire- academy and many more majors, sign up to attend a free field trip to LMC with Mrs. Santos in the College and Career Center. Bus will be provided and you will be back at school by lunch!

 

Attention Seniors!!! The Rossmoor scholarship application is now available in the College and Career Center.  Please see Mrs. Santos for eligibility. Deadline February 10, 2017.

Golden Warrior Nominees

Golden Warrior is the highest honor that Ygnacio Valley bestows onto select Seniors at the end of the year. Seniors are nominated in the winter, and will be highlighted throughout the year, showcasing all of the amazing things our Warriors accomplish inside and outside of school. Winter Spirit Week

It’s Winter Spirit Week- help us bring the end of the year in with Spirit! You can earn points for your grade by dressing up!

Today is Snow Day- Wear All White or Snow Gear. Tuesday- Holiday Hat Day, bust out those amazing holiday hats! Wednesday: Favorite Holiday Day= Dress as your Favorite Holiday Icon- Santa, Grinch, Halloween, it can be any holiday! Thursday-Ugly Holiday Sweater Day- raid Grandma’s closet for an amazing reindeer cat sweater! Friday- Pajama Day! Celebrate Winter Break by wearing your comfy cozies to school! You can bring your favorite stuffy to cuddle!

Here are the Spirit Points earned this year! You can earn more for your grade by dressing up for Winter Spirit Week! Freshmen- 397 points, Sophomores- 339 points, Juniors - 461 points, Seniors -525 points!

 

 

Carols by Candlelight

Come to YV's favorite holiday tradition, Carols by Candlelight! This great show is good for the whole family, and features YV choirs, guitars, and Dance 3! There is a donation requested at the door of $5. We are also collecting canned and boxed non-perishable food at the door for donation to the Monument Crisis Center. Shows are Monday and Tuesday, December 12th and 13th at 7pm. Don't miss this great performance!

 

Senior Breakfast

Senior Breakfast is on Friday, December 16 from 8:30-11:30.  Only three days left to purchase tickets! Tickets are $10 today and Tuesday and on Wednesday December 14 prices go up to $20. You must have a contract turned completed in order to attend. You must have a parent sign it and an admin approve it. Senior Breakfast will be a ton of fun! Lots of food, games, dancing, surprises and more! You don’t want to miss the last Senior Event of 2016!

 

Hall Decorating

Hall Decorating is happening on Wednesday, December 14 after school. We still have Room for Clubs to sign up. Everybody is welcome to come and help out. We will be decking the halls and having a great time together! Please join us!

 

Career and College Center

Saturday, December 17th from 10-2 pm. Come and help us wrap presents for homeless and needy children who are served by the Bay Area Rescue Mission! The event will be held at Contra Costa Christian High School 2721 Larkey Lane in Walnut Creek,.and you can participate for all or part of the time We will have verification forms for your community service as well as snacks and warm drinks. No wrapping experience necessary and all ages are welcome. Gift donations for the children are also welcome and encouraged! You can deliver the toys to the office at Contra Costa Christian High School during regular business hours.

Seniors with unexcused absence on May 16  will need to attend Saturday School on June 4.  You will receive your cap and gown when Saturday School is over. 

Senior Fines

In order to receive your diploma at the graduation ceremony, your fines must be paid in full.  Seniors who do not clear their fines can pick up their cap and gown after graduation rehearsal at the Main Office’s conference room, no later than 1:00pm that day, but your diploma will not be released until your fines are paid. 

You won’t be able to pay your fine at graduation rehearsal; you will need to see the Treasurer back at YVHS no later than 1:00pm Monday, June 6.   

Senior Transcripts

If you plan on attending a 2 year or 4 year school/college after graduation you need to send a final transcript (with your end of year grades) to the school/college.  Please fill out a final transcript request form at registrar’s office.  You will need address of college you plan to attend.  The transcript will be mailed out by June 17th.

Locker Cleanout

Locker Cleanout will be on Thursday, June 2. Students will be sent passes to clean out their lockers during assigned hallway times. All unclaimed items will be brought to the office to the lost and found. Please make sure all personal items are out of the lockers. Locks must be kept by underclassmen. Seniors, please turn in your locks.
