GOT SOCCER? Ygnacio Valley does!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE YV GIRLS SOCCER TEAM for qualifying to play in the first ever CIF Northern California Championships!! The #8 seed warriors will travel to #1 seed Shasta high school on Tuesday for a first round game. Kickoff at 4pm. GO WARRIORS!!

Into The Woods

Come see our Spring Musical- Into The Woods - a twist on loved fairytales! There are only 4 shows so don’t miss out! The dates are March 8, 9, 14 and 15 at 7:00pm in the MU! Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. You can buy presale tickets from any cast member! Ask your teachers for extra credit for attending!

 

Spring Dance

5th Grade Camp

Sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in being a 5th grade camp counselor. Applications are in the College and Career Center. A mandatory training workshop with be held on Wednesday, March 14 immediately after school. See Mrs. Santos for details!

during lunch today and after school on Tuesday, October 17. Auditions will be held in M-1. There are 2 tenor spots available in the group. The audition will include some vocalizing and sight-singing. You may also sing a song of your choice. If you have an interest in joining our group, please contact Mrs. Loth to schedule an audition time on one of those dates.

 

Rose Grams

Hey Warriors...HOMECOMING GRAMS are being sold by your cheerleaders this week and next.  You can purchase roses and stuffed animals to be delivered to your friends and teachers to celebrate homecoming week.  Have a date to Homecoming?  Want a creative way to ask that special someone?  Homecoming Grams is a great way to ask your date.  Homecoming grams can be sent to friends to cheer them on for the big same or let them know you appreciate them.  So have fun, support the team and come purchase your Homecoming grams from a cheerleader or at Lunch in the quad everyday this week.  GO WARRIORS!!!

 

Blood Drive

We are taking sign ups for the Blood Drive in Room 602 at lunch. The Drive is being held on Thursday, November 2. You must be at least 16 with parent permission, 17 and older do not need permission slips. Save a life- donate Blood!

Student Parking Permits

Parking Permits for YVHS students are on sale for $20 in the Treasurer’s Office; come by and pick up an application!  Note:  All cars parking on school property must have a YVHS parking permit (staff and students).  Staff can get their permits in the Main Office.   Students must have a valid driver’s license and car registration and proof of insurance to purchase a student parking permit.

Picture Makeup Day

Did you know that you can get your brunch and lunch at the carts inside the multi-use room ?

Starting on Wednesday 9-20-17 cinnamon rolls will only be sold at brunch on the cart.  We make 50 fresh homemade cinnamon rolls every day for brunch.

Also starting now are our daily specials at the Cart.  Don’t wait in the long lines go to the cart and get the specials.  We will have a limited number to start with at the cart as a trial this week.  We will still have our special inside on the kitchen lines.

Historically Black College Fair

Attention juniors and seniors! Plan to attend the 18 annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Recruitment fair on Tuesday, September 12 at Deer Valley High school. Seniors can bring their current transcripts and SAT/ACT scores if available, and have an opportunity to be admitted on the spot to a university. Receive application waivers, and scholarships. Learn what these schools have to offer. All junior and senior students are welcome regardless of race. Please see Mrs. Santos in the College and Career center to get a field trip permission slip!

Attention seniors: Are you in the top 5-10% of your class?
Score is greater than 1310 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT?

Dance 3 Auditions

ALL students interested in Dance 3! Auditions, which were postponed last week, are now Thursday this week after school, 3:45 in the dance studio! Be there!

 

ATHLETICS

All students interested in playing water polo and girls tennis next year, there is mandatory sign ups this Wednesday and Thursday at lunch in room 204.

 

Locker Cleanout

Seniors: Your lockers should now be empty- you need to turn your lock in to Ms. Ridings or you will receive a fine and will not receive your diploma.

Underclassmen- locker cleanout is this Friday. You will be excused from classes to go to your hallway and clean out your locker. Please keep your lock, as it is on loan until you graduate. Loss of a lock will result in a fine, and you will have to purchase a new lock.

 

Cap and Gowns

Seniors—The next cap and gown distribution days will be today, Wednesday and Thursday during lunch.  All fines must have been cleared and credit/grade issues resolved before you can pick up your cap and gown.  Fines can be cleared with the Treasurer’s Office before and after school and during brunch.   If you clear a book fine at the IMC, please bring your receipt from the IMC to the Treasurer before trying to pick up your cap and gown.   Please clear your fines and credit/grade issues.

 

Students who requested to borrow their caps and gowns will be able to pick them up after graduation rehearsal at DVC.  Borrowers must return the cap, gown, and tassel after the ceremony in the DVC gym before they pick up their diploma.   A fine will be assessed if any of the three pieces is missing or damaged.

 

Graduation tickets— Ms. Mansell will be taking ticket requests during lunch only.

 

Senior Yearbook Signing Party and Senior Goodbye

On Thursday, June 1st we have a great event planned! Seniors will receive their yearbooks after school and Senior Aaron Grandbois Jenkins family is hosting a Senior Party for you! Hotdogs, chips, candy and more! Come and join your fellow Seniors for a great Going Away Party!

 

Staff Diplomas

You were given a list of staff members handing out diplomas. Please circle the staff member you would like to give you your diploma and turn it in to 602 or Ms. Stobing’s mailbox. Dance III Auditions

Attention Warriors!! Do you want to perform in the rallies next year with Dance 3? Come to auditions Wednesday 2:45 after school in the Dance studio! Senior Sendoff

Senior Sendoff has been canceled. Refund checks are being processed and will be given out before Finals Week.

 

Senior Walk

If you signed up for Senior Walk, please make sure you turn in your permission slips to Ms. Cooper! Senior Walk is Wednesday. You don’t want to miss it!

 

Graduation Speech Auditions

Seniors- if you would like to give a speech at graduation please stop by Room 602 to sign up to audition. You will be called in for an appointment time.

 

Senior Locker Cleanout

Seniors Locker Cleanout is this Friday! Seniors will be called from class to clean out their lockers. All locks must be turned in to the Treasurer by Thursday June 1. If your lock is not returned, you will be fined and you will not receive your diploma at graduation!

 

Cap and Gowns

Cap and Gowns will be distributed at lunch on Monday, May 22 out of the main office conference room window. This is the only day during this week that they will be available. You will receive up to 8 tickets to graduation at that time. All fines must be cleared and you must be on track to graduate. Please have everything in order before you get in line.

 

Senior Finals

Seniors Only- Your finals are next week. Tuesday Finals 5th and 6th, Wednesday, 1st and 2nd, Thursday 3rd and 4th. These are regular days- no special schedule.

You don’t want to miss out on the last day to hang out with the Class of 2017 together! Tickets are on sale now through Thursday, May 11! There are a limited number available so don’t wait until the last minute!

 

 

College and Career

DVC is hosting an SEA Day Saturday, May 13 for seniors that are planning on attending DVC in the fall. Get enrollment priority and register for summer and fall classes. Workshops for parents, and campus tours for all. Please see Mrs. Santos for details and requirements to attend. Space is limited and you must RSVP by Tuesday, May 10.

 

Cap and Gowns

Seniors- If you have not ordered your cap and gown, you must now mail your form into Josten’s in order to receive one -purchased or borrowed. Prices have gone up! A basic package for Cap/Gown/Tassel is $49. The Deadline to order is May 9. There are over 90 Seniors who have not ordered a cap and gown.  If you need more information please see Mrs. Ridings in the Treasurer’s Office.   If you plan to borrow a cap/gown, you still need to turn in an order form to Jostens.  Write “Borrow” in the payment information.

2017-2018 Cheerleading Try-Outs
We are having cheerleading tryouts starting today! at 3:45-5:30 in the dance room.  Tryouts will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Paperwork and information will be passed out the first day.

ASB Car Wash

The Rain is almost gone and it’s time to wash the winter blues off of your cars! We are holding a Car Wash at YV this Saturday from 9:00am-2:00pm! Buy a ticket ahead of time from any ASB student and get the discounted rate of $7! Come out and help support Student Activities at our Car Wash on Saturday!

 

Tribe Tickets

Do you have Tribe Tickets burning a hole in your pocket? The Tribe Store will be open on Thursday at lunch! Head over to S-3 (Sports Med Room) and exchange your ticket for some great YV Swag! We have Umbrellas, cinch bags, portable chargers and more!

Prom- “A Night Under 1000 Stars”

Prom Tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 17 through Friday, April 28  for Juniors, Seniors and their guests. Tickets are $145 each and include mandatory transportation, full dinner, dancing and entertainment! You don’t want to miss this Prom on a Yacht! Tickets will sell out- we have a limited number of spots! Contracts are now available by the Treasurer’s Office. There are three contracts, please make sure you pick up the correct ones for you and your guest.

Eligibility Requirements for Prom: ·Student needs to be making satisfactory progress for graduation

·Ten or more tardies or unexcused period absences--if you have ten or more tardies or unexcused period absences, you have the opportunity to attend Saturday school. ·No suspension 15 days prior to prom

Interact Toiletry Drive

Interact is collecting travel/hotel-size shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, bar soap, body wash to give to a homeless shelter to help Concord area homeless individuals and families. Please bring whatever you can to room 307 by Friday, April 21.
