Musical

It’s that time of year again; our 2015 Musical is “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” There are still three more opportunities to see the musical! Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2:00pm and Saturday at 7:30pm for closing night!. Student tickets are $5 and adult tickets are $8. Come and join us! Don’t forget to ask your teachers if they are offering extra credit!

 

Yearbook

Have you been waiting to buy your yearbook? After this week, yearbooks will be sold first come, first serve, and we may run out!! This is the last week to order a yearbook and guarantee that you get one. Yearbooks cost $80 and are payable by cash, check, or card to Ms. Ridings in the Treasurer's office.

 

Oakland A’s Step Up to the Plate for Education with Ygnacio Valley High School!

 Ygnacio Valley High School is excited to participate in th‚Äče Oakland As Step Up to the Plate for Education program for the 2015 season! Students, parents, and their friends and families have the opportunity to purchase special fundraising tickets for select A’s games.  A portion of each ticket will go directly back to the school. College Shirts

College shirts have arrived from several different Universities. Visit the College and Career Center to enter to win a college shirt to wear on Wednesdays.

 

Log on to the featured College or Universities website answer the question given to you by Mrs. Santos and enter to win the shirt. A new school will be featured every one to two weeks!

 

NEW SCHOLARSHIPS ARE HERE

Seniors planning on attending college in the fall, pick up the Ernie Wutzke and Timothy Washington Memorial scholarship applications from the College and Career Center.

Timothy Washington scholarship deadline: May 1.

 

Ernie Wutzke scholarship deadline: May 15.

 

JUNIORS!!!

Come join us on a field trip to Diablo Valley College. The event is on Wednesday, April 29, from 9 until 2:15. It is a free day of tours, activities and lunch will be provided. Please see Mrs. Santos for a permission slip. Transportation will be provided. Don't miss out on this fun day. Deadline for permission slips is Friday, April 24.

 

Blood Drive

The Blood Drive is on Thursday, April 30 in the gym. We will be taking sign-ups for the next two weeks in the quad at lunch. You must be 17, or 16 with a permission slip. You must turn in a permission slip in order to make an appointment.

 

PROM

Prom tickets are on sale starting Monday, April 20! We have a limited number of tickets, and we will sell out! Get your tickets early. You must pay and clear your fines before you purchase a ticket. Don’t forget, if you made a deposit for Prom, you need to continue to make payments! See Mrs. Ridings in the Office.

 

TUXES FOR PROM

Simple Tux will be here on Thursday, April 23 at lunchtime to take measurements for Prom! This is an amazing new online service. You get measured at school; order your tux online at simpletux.com/yvhs and you will receive your tux 5 days before Prom, delivered right to your house! Don’t miss out on this great deal!

Summer School

We will have a full offering of classes for Summer School at YV this summer! If you are interested, please stop by and give Mrs. Heinzmann your name. You will be called in to register for classes. This is a great way to make up credits! You can make up an entire class in six weeks, or just one semester of a class. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

 

SAT Prep

The C.A.R.E.S. After School Program will be hosting a 3 week SAT Prep Class this summer. Students who complete the class will receive 5 credits. College tour opportunities will also be available to students who sign up. If you are at all interested, sign up in room 202.

 

Special Olympics

We will need student volunteers for the Special Olympics track meet on May 15.  They can begin signing up with Deb or Sophia in the VP's office.  We will have an orientation on 4/27 during lunch where students can sign up for a specific job, receive more information about the event and get their permission slips.

 

Prom Schedule

Friday, May 15 is Junior/Senior Prom. We will have an early release day. The schedule is below. All students attending Prom must attend a minimum of three class periods in order to attend Prom. Students who miss three or more classes will not be allowed to attend. This includes excused absences.
